Fuzzy’s Grub, Cornhill
American Thanksgiving in a sandwich? That means lunch from Fuzzy’s Grub, a traditional carvery. As a Yankee away from home, this is (ironically) the only place this side of the pond where I’ve been able to find comfort food to rival my grandmother’s efforts concerning the American holiday feast.
The vast choice of roast meats means you’ll have no need to eat dinner either.
Despite the venue being nothing more than a counter and a long line of customers peering in, Fuzzy’s is a bit of a cult favourite and popularity has grown mainly through word of mouth.
Choosing from the home-cooked savoury choices was impossible, but the staff have been serving up these sandwiches long enough to know the best creative combinations to suggest. I walked out with turkey, bread stuffing, steamed peas and carrots, and just a touch of gravy on wholemeal bread. It was delicious.
The first shop was opened in the City in 2008, and it has since grown to include six venues across London. That kind of growth only indicates how good Fuzzy’s really is; just be careful it doesn’t translate to your waistline.
